National Service Scheme

There are Four units each functioning in the College, under Four programme officers. NSS special camps are conducted in the nearby villages. Our NSS volunteers work towards improving the sanitary conditions of those villages, create awareness about AIDS, RWH.

The main objectives of National Service Scheme (NSS) are:

  • Understand the community in which they work.
  • Understand themselves in relation to their community.
  • Identify the needs and problems of the community and involve them in problem-solving.
  • Develop among themselves a sense of social and civic responsibility.
  • Utilize their knowledge in finding practical solutions to individual and community problems.
  • Develop competence required for group-living and sharing of responsibilities.
  • Gain skills in mobilizing community participation.
  • Acquire leadership qualities and democratic attitudes.
  • Develop capacity to meet emergencies and natural disasters and
  • Practice national integration and social harmon.

Under this, students undertook various need based programs in the adopted villages, college campus and urban slums during weekends or after college hours.

ANNUAL REPORT (2008-2009)

The National Service Scheme our College has been inaugurated on 01.07.1975 and it is serving the society with social responsibility till date.38 special camps have been conducted for the past 29 years. An Herbal Exhibition” was conducted during Feb 2005 in Tirupur. A magazine on “Medicinal Herbs” was released as part of the same.Various reputed dailies including “The Hindu” appreciated the activity.Tirupur Government Hospital certified and appreciated the (social responsibility of our NSS volunteers for creating the record of High Volume Blood Donationduring 2004-05.Every year a Blood Donation Camp is being arranged on “Feb 2014” and our students used to participate in it actively.

Remarkable activities during (2008-09)

  • A Training Sessionwas conducted for 250 students on 02.07.2008, regarding “Census of Child Labour”
  • “Anti-Ragging Awareness Programme” was conducted on 03.07.2008. More than 800 Students participated in it.
  • 250 NSS volunteers took a census of child labour among 18000 houses in Tirupur, 15 Velampalayam on 05.07.2008 and 06.07.2008 and submitted the same to the Corporation Executive Officers, which was appreciated by Covai class organisation.
  • An awareness rally was conducted on 10.07.2008 marking the “World Population Day” (11.07.2008)-1500 students participated in the rally. (Note: The awareness rally conducted by our students during 2005 gained the appreciation of vice chancellor.
  • 100 NSS volunteers participated in regulating the crowd gathered. On 14.07.2008 at the AvinashiLingeshvarar temple for the Maha kumbabishegam.
  • “Refresher training” was conducted for the Ist year Undergraduate students on 04.08.2008 by our NSS Programme Co-ordinators.
  • The NSS Volunteers actively participated in the “Independence Day Celebration” “held in our College premises on 15.08.2008
  • NSS volunteers actively participated in the Seminar conducted by “Sahithiya Academy” on 16.08.2008.
  • Our NSS volunteers served at the Sirupooluvapaati Middle School on 11.09.2008 under the “School Adaption Scheme”
  • A seminar was conducted on 06.10.2008 towards educating the students about “Environmental Science”. 500 volunteers were participated in this seminar.
  • A “Special Camp” was conducted in 5 villages including Periyaandi palayam, Paccham palayam, Devam palayam, Kulathu palayam & Avinashilingam palayam from 08.10.2008 to 17.10.2008 for 10 days.
  • “Consumer Protection Forum”was inaugurated on 30.10.2008 by under NSS, All NSS volunteers joined as a member.
  • A Seminar was conducted on 01.12.2008. Marking the “World Aids Day”. All the NSS volunteers took the oath.
  • “Eye Donation Bond” was obtained from 2500 people on 26.01.2009. Marking the Indian Republic day under the eye donation scheme.
  • “Anti-Child Labour Camp” was headed by District Collector on 30.01.2009.
  • Various Cultural activities and an interaction session was held on 22.01.2009 along with “Save Association” to encourage the Child Labour.
  • A seminar was conducted on “AIDS- A Dangerous Diseases”in association with Youth Red Cross and Red Ribbon Club on 16.03.2009 over 400 students participated

  • An awareness rally was held marking the world “Environmental Day” on 05.06.2009 about 100 student participated in it.
  • Anti-ragging awareness seminar was held on 17.06.2009.
  • “Anna Centenary Year Celebration” was held on 24.06.2009.
  • Essay writing &Oratory, competitions were held and prizes were distributed as part of it.
  • A “Blood Donation Camp” was conducted in association with “Tirupur Government Hospital and Muyarchi People Association”on 28.06.2009 71 units of blood was donated to the Tiruppur Government Hospital.
  • “Refresher Training” was conducted for the first year Undergraduate students on 07.07.2009.
  • A seminar on the “Importance of Breast Feeding” was conducted for the NSS women students on 05.08.2009.
  • A Seminar was conducted on “Transportation Awareness” on 07.08.2009 for the NSS volunteers, which was headed by Deputy Superintendent of police Mr.N.Rajendran.
  • “Independence day Celebration was held on 15.08.2009 in the college premises for the first time after the partition of Tirupur District.
  • Awareness Rally was conducted on 12.09.2009 marking the “Rajiv Gandhi Renewable Energy day”which was headed by the District Collector Mr.C.Samayamoorthi.
  • A “Blood Donation Camp”was conducted in Association with “Tirupur Government Hospital and Muyarchi People Association”on 23.08.2009 and 24.10.2009, 67 units of blood were donated to the Tirupur Government Hospital.
  • AIDS Awareness Rally was conducted on “World Aids Day”01.12.2009
  • A seminar was held in Tirupur Town hall on 03.12.2009 under the District Collector Marking the “World Physically Challenged Day” over 100 NSS volunteers participated in it.
  • An awareness rally was conducted on 30.12.2009 regarding “Electricity Conservation”, which was headed by District Collector. Over 200 NSS volunteers participated in it.
  • A Special Campwas conducted in 5 villages (Periyayipalayam Paccha palayam, Devampalayam, Kulathu palayam, Avinashilingam palayam)   from 07.01.2010-13.01.2010 for seven days.  Various awareness seminars and social services were carriedout during the camp period.
  • “Republic Day” celebration was held on 26.10.2010 in the college premises for the first time after the partition of Tirupur District. Various cultural events were conducted by the NSS volunteers
  • “Namma Tirupur Celebration” was conducted by “Chennai Tamil Maiyam” on 05.02.2010, 06.02.2010 and 07.02.2010;various celebrities participated in it, including Member of Parliament smt Kanimozhi, various central and state Ministers and the Bharathiar University Vice Chancellor Prof. Mr.Swaminathan. Over 100,000 people visited the place every day. The NSS volunteers playeda major role in regulation the crowd and gained the appreciation of the celebrities as well as the public

Tirupur Government Hospital certified and appreciated the (social responsibility of our NSS volunteers for creating the record of High Volume Blood Donation during 2004-05. Every year a Blood Donation Camp is being arranged on “Feb 2014” and our students used to participate in it actively.

Remarkable activities during 2010-2011

  • A seminar was organised by “District Sanitation Department” on creating awareness about swine flu on 04.06.2010.
  • A rally was conducted on 18.06.2010 indicating the “world Anti-drugs day,” over 500 NSS volunteers participated actively.
  • “Refresher Training” was conducted for the I year Undergraduate students on 09.07.2010
  • “Transportation Awareness Seminar”was conducted on 06.08.2010.
  • The NSS volunteers actively participated in the Independence Day celebration held in our college premises on 15.08.2010.
  • Over 200 NSS volunteers were actively involved in cleaning the “Thiru Murugan Poondi Temple” in a large scale on 27.09.2010 which was headed by District Collector.
  • “Wild Life Week” was celebrated on 08.10.2010. A rally was also conducted over 500 NSSvolunteers participated in it, which was presided by the District Collector.
  • Aids Awareness Rally was conducted on World Aids day 01.12.2012.
  • A “Special Camp”was conducted in 5 villages (Periyayi Palayam, Paacha Palayam,Devampalayam,Kulathu palayam, Avinashilingam Palayam) from 31.12.2010 to 06.01.2011 for seven days. Various awareness seminars and social services were carried out during the camp period.
  • NSS volunteers participated in various cultural events during the “Repulic Day Celebration” held on 26.01.2011
  • Apart from the above mentioned activities our NSS volunteers are involved in Cleanliness Activities of Our College Campus once in a week.

Tirupur Government Hospital certified and appreciated the (social responsibility of our NSS volunteers for creating the record of “High Volume Blood Donation” during 2004-05.   • A Seminar titled on “Awareness of Disciplinary Regulations”was held on 26.06.2012. Our College Principal K.M.Prabhu was invited as the chief guest.
  • Anti-ragging awareness programme was conducted on 04.07.2012.
  • Refresher Training was conducted for theI year Under Graduate Students on 25.07.2012.
  • “Transportation Awareness” Seminar was conducted on 03.08.2012.
  • The NSS volunteers actively participated in the Independence Day celebration held in
  • our college premises on 15.08.2012.
  • Gandhi Nagar Rotary club conducted a workshop on “Managerial Qualities” on 22.08.2012 Rotarian MrRathinasamy felicitated the gathering.
  • “Aids Awareness Rally” was conducted on the “World Aids Day” 01.12.2012.
  • A Special Campwas conducted in 5 villages including periyayipalayam from 03.01.2013 to 09.01.2013 for seven days. Various Awareness seminars and social services were carried out  (Socio-Economic  Survey).
  • NSS volunteers participated  in various cultural events during “The Republic Day Celebration” held on 26.01.2013
  • A Seminar was conducted on 30.01.2013 to insist the “Importance of Voting in Public Election”.
  • 250 tree saplings were planted in the college campus on 22.02.2013 “Under the Green Carpet Programme.”
  • Our NSS volunteers are involved in cleanliness activities of our college campus once in a week.
