About the Department

The Department of TAMIL was established in the year 2017-18 on the recommendations of National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC). Tirupur. Parents and students from this region throng into the courses offered by this department. The department offers Bachelor of Arts in Tamil for a maximum of 30 students and Master of Arts in Tamil for a maximum of 18 students and also M.Phil. and Ph.D research programmes in Tamil, these courses are affiliated to Bharathiar University and offers the curriculum designed by this renown nationally accredited University.

The department functions in a well equipped spacious MGR Centenary building of this college. The department is sanctioned with 16 teachers at presently has 3 Assistant Professor and 5 guest lecturers. the department has proposed to offer special coaching for competitive examinations. Students Association, Parent-Teachers Association and Alumni Associations of this department have been contributing to the excellence of this department through various activities.

Courses Offered:

1.Bachelor of Arts (BA) in TAMIL:

Eligibility : A pass in Higher Secondary Education
Duration of the Degree Programme : Three years with six semesters
Graduation requirements : Successful Completion and passing the core, allied and elective courses prescribed by Bharathiar University and securing the prescribed minimum CGPA

2.Master of Arts (MA) in TAMIL

Eligibility : Any Bachelors Degree
Duration of the Degree Programme : Two years with four semesters
Graduation requirements :Successful Completion and passing the core, allied and elective courses prescribed by Bharathiar University and securing the prescribed minimum CGPA

3.MPhil in TAMIL ( F/T and P/T)

Eligibility : Master Degree in Tamil
Duration of the Degree Programme : Two years or Three years
Graduation requirements : Successful Completion and passing the programme prescribed by Bharathiar University and securing the prescribed minimum CGPA

4.Ph D in TAMIL( F/T and P/T)

Eligibility : Master Degree in Tamil or Master Degree in Tamil with M,Phil
Duration of the Degree Programme : Two years or Three years or Four years
Graduation requirements :Successful Completion and passing the programme prescribed by Bharathiar University and securing the prescribed minimum CGPA
